Washington Head Coach Accepts Responsibility for Keeping Jayden Daniels in Contest Before Significant Harm

Washington Commanders head coach Coach Quinn has stated he bears a portion of the fault for a major injury to the squad’s signal-caller, Jayden Daniels.

Details of the Injury and Context

Daniels, who enjoyed one of the greatest first-year performances of all time last season, sustained a dislocated elbow joint in the Sunday loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Although Daniels passes with his right arm, the injury has placed his season in doubt. The condition was significant enough that the television broadcast avoided showing replays and multiple players looked away as Daniels was treated by medical staff.

Criticism and Coach’s Response

Coach Quinn came under criticism as many believed Daniels should not have been on the field in the first place. The incident occurred in the fourth quarter with the Washington behind 38-7, rendering a comeback improbable. It is typical in such situations for clubs to insert their backup quarterback to prevent harm to their starter.

“I get that. I’ve been reflecting about it constantly, too, and, man, I erred,” Quinn said of his decision to keep Jayden in the game. “That is 100% my fault.”

Fallout and Squad Outlook

Marcus Mariota will be the team’s starting quarterback from now on, but he will lead a team in turmoil. Following making the conference title game last season thanks to the rookie’s brilliance, the team have struggled this season. They also lost cornerback Marshon Lattimore (ACL tear) and pass-catcher McCaffrey (broken collarbone) on game day, and have a number of other key players on injured reserve. The Washington squad are 3-6 so far, and it would take a massive reversal for the team to reach the playoffs.
